A Guide to Wedding Bouquet Preservation in Ireland: Timelines & Logistics
Share
Your wedding day is a whirlwind of emotion, laughter, and inevitably flowers.
At SIÓG Botanicals, we believe your bouquet shouldn’t just be a memory; it should be a masterpiece. However, to transform fresh petals into gallery-quality pressed art, the logistics of that first week are key.

The Preservation Window: Freshness is Everything
In the world of flower pressing, freshness equals colour. Once a flower begins to wilt, the moisture inside starts to brown the petals. To achieve that vibrant, editorial look seen in our Signature Collection, we need your flowers while they are still hydrated.
- The Gold Standard: Within 2–3 days of the "I Do." This is when we can capture the peak vibrancy and structure of your blooms.
- The Final Deadline: We accept bouquets up to 5 days post-wedding, provided they have been cared for correctly.
Note: After day 5, the risk of petal decay and bruising increases significantly. While we will always do our best, the freshest flowers yield the most stunning results.

Step 1: The "Night-Of" & Day Two Care
While you’re busy enjoying the Day Two BBQ or catching up with guests, assign a "Flower Guardian" (a trusted bridesmaid or parent) to follow these simple steps:
- Hydrate: Keep the stems in fresh, cool water. Check the level daily, wedding bouquets are surprisingly thirsty!
- Stay Cool: Store the bouquet in a cool, dark room. Avoid the hotel fridge (which can be too cold/moist) and keep them far away from direct sunlight or radiators.
Handle with Care: Try not to lay the bouquet on its side, as this can bruise the delicate outer petals of roses, lilies, or ranunculus.

Step 2: Getting Your Flowers to our Kildare Studio
Our studio is located at Crookstown Business Park, Ballitore, Co. Kildare, easily accessible just off the M7 or M9 motorways. It’s a convenient stop for couples (or their designated delivery person) travelling back from venues in Limerick, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, or Dublin.
Option A: The Studio Drop-Off
Most of our 2026 brides opt for a scheduled drop-off within those first few days. It gives you peace of mind knowing the flowers are safely in our hands.
- Location: Unit 1, Crookstown Business Park, Co. Kildare (R14ND91).
- Pro Tip: Book your drop-off appointment in advance via our online calendar.
Option B: Express Shipping (An Post / Courier)
If you’re heading straight to the airport for your honeymoon, you can ship your bouquet to us.
- The Method: Always use An Post Express, DPD or a guaranteed next-day courier service. This ensures they arrive well within our 5-day window.
- The Packing: Wrap the stems in damp paper towels and secure with tin foil to keep them hydrated. Place the bouquet in a sturdy box with plenty of padding (like tissue paper) to prevent shifting.
No Plastic: Never wrap the flower heads in plastic bags; this creates a "greenhouse effect" that causes the flowers to rot. Watch our guide on how to pack a bouquet for shipping here.

2026 Availability: A Note for Future Brides
Because our preservation process is artisanal and takes weeks of meticulous work, we only take a limited number of bouquets per wedding weekend.
Important: Our calendar sees high demand for the summer months. To ensure your date is protected and we have space in our presses for your flowers, we recommend booking your slot a few months in advance.
